Review of “Chasing Ever After” by Stephanie Hoffman McManus

“Chasing Ever After” by Stephanie Hoffman McManus
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

I fell for Ace when I first met him in Finding Ever After. I was thrilled that he got his story in Chasing Ever After. This story is Ace and Sadie’s and takes place a bit after Ace and Sadie have first met. Ace manages to push all of Sadie’s buttons – the wrong way. I smiled at how Ace kept pushing at Sadie but at the same time was protective of her feelings. Ace isn’t sure how things veered off course but he is sure that he still wants Sadie. He just doesn’t know how to get her so he’ll just keep pushing her buttons until he can convince himself that he doesn’t want her, as if!

Sadie is Jax’s best friend and she has had a lot of crap in her life. She has told Jax some of it, but not all of it. Sadie learned to just keep things to herself. This makes it really hard for her to connect to Ace. Ace manages to be there for her through all of it. He stands up for her even when she doesn’t know. My heart ached for Sadie when everything came out. Yet, it was sweet and tender how Ace was still there and how he wrapped everything up at the end.

It wasn’t necessary to first read Finding Ever After to enjoy Chasing Ever After. It was sweet to hear more about Jax and Ky’s relationship and how hard it had really been for them. Jax was the force that kept everyone together and she had fabulous advice.
